Delphix alternatives: choose by test data workflow

Delphix alternatives are not all replacements for its virtual database workflow. First decide whether you need full virtual copies, masked subsets or deliberately generated business scenarios. Keep Delphix on the shortlist when its documented workflow meets your requirements.

Related business-entity subsets; not a storage-virtualization replacement

Consider it when tests need a coherent customer or order across several systems, with shared provisioning and masking rules. Evaluate the required Fabric and business-entity model alongside the data workflow.

A small disposable fixture may not justify the entity-model and infrastructure setup. The reviewed AI path requires training and documents a single LU/schema, non-hierarchical entity boundary. Do not equate entity snapshots with storage-level virtual databases.

IBM InfoSphere Optim TDM 11.7

Legacy Optim estates: evaluate lifecycle and migration before switching

Consider it for an existing Optim estate that needs relational subsets, transformations and reuse of established definitions. Include license continuity and migration effort in the decision.

End of marketing is announced for Solution PID 5724-U48 on 9 December 2026 and Enterprise PID 5725-G97 on 11 November 2026. Neither reviewed lifecycle page gives an end-of-support date. Do not transfer these dates to modern Optim TDM.

Tonic Structural

Source-derived subsets and transformations

Consider it when your team needs smaller copies of existing application databases, with sensitive fields transformed and the required relationships preserved.

It works from existing source data; use a from-scratch generator when the target schema has no representative source records. Connector support for subsetting varies. Oracle collection columns (nested tables and VARRAYs) are set to NULL, with a job warning, according to v1876 release notes. Verify these types and your exact version before replacing a production-copy workflow.

DATPROF Privacy

Evaluate Privacy together with Subset and Runtime for the required workflow

Best suited to database teams that need reusable masking templates, constrained synthetic rows, deterministic values and separation of project development from deployment.

Privacy should not be credited with Subset product functionality by default; Runtime is separate, runtime deployment is not available for every database, and some workflows require elevated database permissions.

Redgate Test Data Manager

Evaluate a CLI-based masking and subset pipeline

Consider it when you need smaller source-derived databases for development or QA, with a CLI-oriented preparation workflow. The documentation names SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB and Oracle; verify the exact engine version.

Subsetting requires foreign-key relationships. Validate application-level relationships that are absent from the database schema. Use a dedicated disposable test environment. A masked copy still needs a separate privacy assessment; successful execution is not an anonymity guarantee.

Synthesized TDK

Evaluate an alternative automated data preparation workflow

Best for engineering teams that want workflow-driven database masking, synthetic test-data generation, and relational subsetting integrated into development pipelines.

TDK is the current platform documented for these test-data operations; Synthesized also publishes a distinct Python SDK, so confirm which product and workflow a comparison names.

Does Delphix only provide virtualization?

No. Perforce also documents masking and a Synthetic Data product, with a September 2026 GA announcement. Evaluate the licensed release and its technical limitations; older comparisons may describe an earlier product state. Perforce release updates.

What could make switching the wrong choice?

If the alternative cannot satisfy a mandatory workflow or costs more to operate, switching is a poor outcome even when its feature list looks broader. Include policy migration, connector changes, rewritten scenarios, retraining and rollback in the evaluation. These candidates are editorial starting points, not a complete market inventory or tested ranking.
