Jailer

Jailer exports small connected slices of relational databases. A local extraction model controls which rows and related records are included. Export and import filters support transformations and key remapping. 1

When does it fit?

Consider it when a relational database subset is the deliverable and your team can maintain the extraction rules. The base subset workflow does not require a cloud AI service. 1 · 2

Fit still depends on your mandatory requirements.

What should you check before choosing?

A subset can still contain sensitive data; define and verify filters before export. Check cycles and relationships without declared foreign keys. Version 17.2.5 comparison features do not establish LOB equality in cross-database comparisons. 1 · 2 · 3

What must your PoC prove?

Select one customer, include related rows and test a cycle. Check filters and key remapping after target loading. Repeat from a clean source snapshot and restore the extraction model with the required driver.

Acceptance plan, not a product test result. Execution scope and limits.

Deployment and license

Local Java application with JDBC drivers, GUI and command-line/programmatic workflows. Verify the actual driver and SQL dialect. Reviewed release: 17.2.5, 2 October 2026. 1 · 2 · 3

Apache-2.0 according to the repository. Database, driver and optional AI service terms are separate. 1 · 2 · 3

Confirm the entitled version and operating requirements.

How you work with it

Maintain an extraction model and filters, export related rows and load the target. Models are local artifacts. SQL, JSON, YAML, XML and DbUnit exports are documented; another engine executing the model is unverified. 1 · 2 · 3

Export does not establish compatibility with another runtime.
